Vulcan Irazu

After a 90min bus ride we arrived at Volcán Irazú, 3432m above sea level. For future Costa Rica visitor: don't fall in the trap of taking an organized tour to Irazú costing you $80. A shuttle bus leaves Saturdays and Sundays at 8am across from the Plaza de la Cultura for a little over $6 round-trip.
We enjoyed clear blue skies above the lower cloud layer for the majority of the trip before a thick layer of fog moved in. We met some fellow travelers from Washington DC and Hamburg. Tomorrow we are off for some zip lines through the jungle.
