La Leona - Sirena

An early morning departure to tackle the 16km hike to Sirena Ranger Station rewarded us with starry skies and a jungle full of life. After several river crossings, alternating between beach and jungle hiking we arrived in Sirena shortly before noon. Important here, you have to leave 2 hours before low tide, otherwise you get stuck on the beach and can't make it to Sirena. We ran into some other hikers that we met the day before who ended up camping out on the beach half way because the rising tide had trapped them...
